My narrative inspiration is pooled from artists of all forms such as Tarkovsky, Caravaggio, Foucault, and Pynchon. My visual style is defined by a dark, high-contrast, slow-burn aesthetic. Some of my visual influences are cinematographers like Jarin Blaschke, Robbie Ryan, Darius Khondji, and Vittorio Storaro,. A goal of mine is to employ intentional visual contradiction to subvert expectations, where the imagery acts as a sort of subtext – what the story is thinking and feeling rather than what it is saying.

About Evan

As a cinematographer, my goal is to invite the audience into a film as active, critical participants by framing visual questions rather than delivering easy answers. I am interested in deconstructing complex themes of confinement, spectacle, and self-policing through the struggles of everyday protagonists whose need is simply trying to make it through the day.
